I’d like to dedicate this blog to the late Nelson Mandela. Without him there would still be apartheid, the brutal system of racial segregation in South Africa. Imagine spending thirty years in jail because of your political beliefs. Despite all of this, Mandela was still a prominent political figure in history.
He will not be admired simply as the man who ended apartheid, he will be remembered as the man who brought democracy to Africa. Considering the dictatorships that are found in most countries of Africa, establishing a democracy is indeed a major accomplishment. Ninety-five years is a lot of time to live, but take thirty away from it because that’s how long Mr. Mandela was in prison.
Nelson Mandela will be remembered along with Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks because of their political views and non-violent beliefs and their way to change history – But not only that, his ability to end apartheid and bring justice to South Africa.
Sure there will be other prominent people in the course of history, but there will only be one Nelson Mandela.
May your teachings live on and may your name forever reign supreme.
